8 other CFL GM’s and coaches would kill to have the injury troubles the Stampeders have had this year. The injury bug has bit, that’s just going to happen in football, but the bite hasn’t been all that hard as of yet.
The o line has been one problem area and that’s happened again this week. After waiting until the last minute to rule Dan Federkeil out last week, Dave Dickenson made it clear right away this week the veteran tackle would be on the sidelines again this Thursday. Nor problem with Ucambre Williams demonstrating he can do the job last week, right? All that changed Tuesday when Williams turned an ankle and had to be helped off. Sooooooooo…this morning;s release of the 46 man roster reveals a return of Spencer Wilson to tackle, a position he played admirable during his breakout year last year. The question mark will be Brad Erdos, slate for game action for the first time since the middle of last year, when he suffered an arm injury in a non contact drill.
The news on the D line is better. Quinn Smith and frank Beltre are both back in. The D has been having trouble getting off the field of late, and the return of those two can only help.
