There will be labour peace at the Calgary public school board for support workers.
Trustees have approved a short-term collective agreement with the staff association. The two-year deal is retroactive to September last year and runs through to the end of August 2017. The workers will get no wage increase for year one. There could be more negotiations on wages and compensation in year two.
Calgary Board of Education Chair Joy Bowen-Eyre calls it “a fair agreement in an uncertain economic climate.”
Other changes were made to support profession development and to clarify work hours and job descriptions.
