Calgary police are looking for the driver of a white Ford Explorer that ended up in a pond in McKenzie Towne Tuesday morning.
Witnesses say the driver hit the water around 7:30 and police say it is not clear whether the driver lost control or intentionally drove into the water.
The man managed to swim to shore and then fled the scene before emergency crews arrived.
Police have confirmed that the vehicle was stolen during a residential break and enter in the southeast sometime between 11 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspect is described as darker-skinned, in his early 20s, approximately 6′ tall, with a slim build.
He was wearing a black shirt and black Adidas track pants with a white stripe.
The suspect would have been soaking wet when he left the scene and may have minor injuries.
The Calgary fire department spent the morning retrieving the vehicle, which became fully submerged, from the pond.
