He was an international hockey star with the powerful Red Army team in the USSR. He made his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames and won the Calder Trophy as the league’s rookie of the year. The league later changed the age requirements of the trophy because of his age. Now Sergei Makarov is a Hockey Hall of Famer!
Makarov is part of the class of 2016, along with Eric Lindros, Rogie Vachon and the late Pat Quinn.
