A St. Albert man is facing criminal code charges in connection with a massive mortgage scam.
Wade Closson has been handed 80 charges of fraud over $5,000 and three charges of theft over $5,000.
RCMP say the 45-year-old operated Optam Holdings Inc. between 2008 and 2013.
Investors eventually went to the Alberta Securities Commission with complaints, which led to a hearing last year.
The ASC heard Closson, with a promise of 18-percent annual returns, raised $10.8-million from 125 investors.
The commission fined Closson $1-million at the end of last year.
He will be in Edmonton court on Friday.
