The Notley government has unveiled $18.5 million to replace the emergency services centre in Kananaskis.
The funding is part of the new provincial budget.
The facility, adjacent to Kananaskis Village on Highway 40, will be home to 24-hour dispatch operations to support the Kananaskis region.
The new centre is seen as a necessity with the growth of the region for tourism and recreation.
Since 2000, the current emergency services centre has seen calls increase more than tenfold.
Planning and site development is expected to begin in 2016.
