Well. Now we know. City administration is not in favour of much to do with CalgaryNEXT. Truthfully, they had been signally their uncertainty on the project for some time. This is not the end of the line for the proposed new Stampeders and Flames homes. However, it does delay the process badly.
And delays are something neither of these teams can afford. The Flames building is rapidly aging and coming to the end of it’s lifespan.
McMahon Stadium is rapidly becoming an eyesore. While other places build new stadiums for their teams, McMahon is constantly bandaged over. The Calgary Sports and Entertainment Group has put some money into upgrading the stadium, but after awhile, they are only prepared to do so much.
Sigh. So we have spent the last eight months waiting for direction on the project. And that direction is right back to the starting line.
