The QE2 between Calgary and Edmonton will soon see some major changes.
The province has announced part of its budget dedicated to infrastructure will be spent on a new interchange on the highway at Gaetz Avenue in Red Deer.
Mayor Tara Veer says the $100-million investment will be welcome news for those who travel the roadway regularly.
The hope is to have the interchange done before the start of the 2019 Canada Winter Games.
Premier Rachel Notley adds the announcement is one of a few set for the QEII, including an expansion to six lanes between Airdrie and Crossfield.
