The Calgary Airport Authority says Marriot will operate the hotel at the new international terminal, when it opens later this fall.
CEO Garth Atkinson made his annual presentation to city council on Monday, saying that the hotel will open in September while the five-level terminal is set to open on Halloween.
Meantime, as News Talk 770 reported a few months ago, the airport had a record year passenger-wise, despite a slower economy in 2015.
Atkinson told council that 15.5-million passengers went through the airport.
The outgoing CEO also says work continues on trying to deal with residents’ concerns about noise, saying an application has been made to Transport Canada to change the degree in which planes can turn, taking off from the south, from 10-degrees to 5-degrees.
“It’s simply impossible to get aircraft in and out without flying over some communities,” Atkinson said. “The placement of Skyview Ranch relative to flight paths probably wasn’t ideal. They are higher in some cases, but it’s probably not ideal.”
