Five Calgarians are facing charges in two investigations surrounding “funny money.”
RCMP say they have received several complaints about counterfeit currency in Cochrane and Airdrie.
In Cochrane, three people were arrested with searches revealing fake $100, $50 and $20 bills.
In Airdrie, two others were arrested following an investigation which started in January.
It’s not known if the two cases are connected in any way.
Investigators are asking businesses to educate their employees on how to prevent these types of crime.
Those charged in Cochrane: 31-year-old Jason Sorochinski, 33-year-old Gina Sorochinski and 19-year-old Teri Machinskinic
Those charged in Airdrie: 32-year-old Michael Zero and 31-year-old Jenna McArthur
