The Alberta government’s flu immunization program has ended for another season.
Between September and the end of March there were 55 deaths in the province of people who had lab-confirmed influenza. 26 of those deaths were in the Calgary area.
Alberta Health Services says overall there were over 4800 lab-confirmed cases of influenza this season, and over half of those cases were the influenza A strain.
1,124,477 doses of vaccine were administered across the province.
Parents of children who still need a second dose of this season’s vaccine are told to contact Health Link at 811.
