A new poll shows if an election were to be held today, the Wildrose would lead the pack.
The shift has really been seen in Calgary.
Of those who responded to the ThinkHQ poll done for Metro News, 30% say they would vote PC.
But it’s a competitive field, with 27% saying Wildrose and 24% saying NDP.
That impacts the province-wide numbers, which show 34% voting Wildrose, 27% NDP and 25% PC.
The NDP continues to be strong in Edmonton, while the Wildrose leads in the rural areas and now, also the small cities.
ThinkHQ’s Marc Henry says if these numbers held true at election time, we would probably end up with an NDP or Wildrose minority government.
He says the Wildrose hasn’t made a lot of inroads in the big cities, while the NDP is still struggling in rural areas, and is losing ground in the small cities.
“They’re starting to drift back down to their traditional levels of support,” Henry said in a phone interview with News Talk 770. “In Calgary, they’re still highly-competitive.”
