How many of your neighbours do you know? Chances are, not as many as you’d like.
The Federation of Calgary Communities has teamed up with Calgary Police to offer “My Neighbour Cards” for people to distribute to each other, door-to door.
Executive Director Leslie Evans explains.
“they are a card that has eight different houses on it and you go around to different neighbours and get to know them and find out contact information. If you ever need to call them or need to let them know you see something out behind their house you have a contact number or an address”.
Evans says in order to create safe neighbours people need to know their neighbours and look out for them.
The Federation and Calgary Police have been handing the cards out at various events since 2012, and have distributed about 40,000 across the city.
